EKKA Summer Camp 2010

EKKA SUMMER COURSE 2010

The EKKA Summer Course as always was held over the 27th/30th August Bank Holiday weekend. It was held at the Gainsbourgh Sports Centre, Ipswich.

This is always a great chance to train with some of the countries best martial arts Instructors, and even more activates to try this year included Kick Boxing, Self Defence, Jump Kicks, Ju Jitsu, Super Teams, Special ops training, Urban Scout laser Tag Rifles, Nunchaku Training and awards at the end of the camp for students that have excelled over the weekend.

The weather was generally kind to all that decided to camp, only a couple of down pours but with the English weather I think we all get used to that. The weekend training Nunchaku got under way Saturday morning with a welcome group training session. I think a few were struggling from the late night before but soon got into the swing of it.

LKK entered 3 Teams this year into the super team event and with more teams than ever before it was going to be hard to win. But once again LKK B managed to pull out all the stops and win Super Team 2010, - Sarah Day, Chloe Duce, Aaron Priestley, Mitchell Priestley, Sam Day, Josh Crooks and Emily Griffiths.

An award is also given by the course instructors to each grade who they consider has excelled above all the others in their grade over the weekend and this years Best White Belt went to Alex Downing.

At the end of the awards EKKA Chief Instructor Mick Blackwell 8th Dan awards the EKKA Student of the Year Trophy which this year went to Chris Harris and it is very much deserved for all the work he puts into his Karate National and Internationally.

Sensei’s Thoughts on this years summer course;

I'm very proud of all of my students that attended this year’s EKKA Summer course everyone put in a lot of hard training over the weekend and with our grading looming this should put them in good stead. Whether you won anything or not you were there to support EKKA Karate. Congratulations to everyone who won awards.

I personally enjoyed this year’s camp and I think it was one of the best ones that we have attended and I hope everyone enjoyed it as much as I did.

Hope to see you all next August Bank Holiday on the next EKKA Summer Camp.
