National Sport Week 2009

More than 10,000 schools and 3 million young people across Britain are taking part in Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week. The aim is simple: to help motivate pupils to do more sport. Lloyds TSB National School Sport Week will encourage, inspire and motivate young people to take up sport and enjoy a healthier, more focused lifestyle. That is what the London 2012 legacy is all about.

Senseis Paul, Chris and Alix of Links Karate Kai were asked by Tendring Technology College to take part by running Karate sessions for the students of the college over the week to give them a small insight into a different sport and a little fun too.

LLK Squad Summer Training Day and BBQ

LKK Squad held its first summer training day and BBQ. The training session consisted of both Kata and Kumite being taught to the squad by assistant Instructors Alix, Loren and Sensei Chris and myself, which the Squad all enjoyed and worked hard learning both new skills and improving some old ones.

This year the Squad has been lucky enough to secure some sponsorship from the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society and at the end of the training session each Squad member was given their new 2009 LLK Team T Shirt which the Building Society's donation has made possible.

Thanks then goes to Kezz and Jay for arranging and organising the BBQ which was a brilliant success that both the squad and their families enjoyed and we even had the sunshine. A day to pencil in on your calendars for next year.

Race for Life

Once again students and parents from Links Karate Kai took part in a 5km Race for Life at the University of Essex on the 26th July 2009. We would like to thank all students who took part or supported those who did as this is such a worth while cause.
