Links Karate Kai held its end of year Awards and Christmas
Party on December 6th 2008 at Gt Holland Village Hall and it was
good to see as always all the tickets had been sold out which helped
to create a great atmosphere. The evening is a great way for the
students and their parents and friends to meet, to celebrate the
successes of the year, rewarding and recognising those who had achieved
personal goals and represented LKK club and squad over the last
year.
First to be recognised
for all his hard work was Mark Raymer who puts a lot of time
and effort into running the LKK web site which you can find
on www.linkskarate.com.
He has built the site over the years to be a very informative
and professionally run site.
Jay Pretlove Individual Design
A big thank you
also went to Jay Pretlove of Jays Individual Design who kindly
donated his time and efforts to setting up the art work for
the embroidery on the new LKK club equipment. Both Mark and
Jay were presented with a Certificate of Thanks for all their
support.
Club Achievement Awards 2008
These awards are voted on by the Black Belts of
LKK and awarded for student successes in their karate classes
and this year went to; Toby Tweed, Joseph Redgewell, Jake Pickering,
Sam Beck and Emily Griffiths.
Tiger Of The Year 2008
Best Tiger of 2008 went to Jessica Olney for the
2nd year in a row, she has shown real dedication to her Tiger
training and has now reached Tiger Level 7.
Best Newcomer 2008
The Best Newcomer of 2008 went to Emily Appleby
who trains at the LKK Gt Holland venue, she has shown a real
talent over the last year and has impressed all the LKK instructors
with her determination to achieve.
Most Improved 2008
Most Improved went to Kelly Pender. When she started training
at LKK she was already a 1st Kyu. She has shown a real willingness
to learn and has shown a real improvement in all parts of
her karate and is determined to do well.
Competitors of the Year 2008
Alix Harris and Tom Raymer gained the much sort after Female
and Male 2008 Competitor of the Year awards. The awards are
worked out on a point system gained from placing at competitions.
Sensei Student 2008
Sensei Student 2008 went to Emily Griffiths. She has proved
to be a very popular and helpful student, she also gained
this award in 2007. She continues to show dedication and commitment
to the club and to her karate.
Student of the Year 2008
Student of the Year 2008 went to Loren
Cook. She has been a very important part of the LKK Team for
many years and a very popular student which showed when she
won the Student’s Student Award which is voted on by
the students of all LKK venues. Loren has also been a vital
part in the development of the LKK Squad and this year has
really excelled and is a well deserved winner of Links Karate
Kai Student of the Year 2008.
