Links Karate
Kai Christmas Party and Awards Evening 2008
This years
Christmas party is being held at Gt Holland Village Hall, Manor
Rd, Gt Holland on Saturday 6th December 7pm - 12pm.
This event
is always very popular, includes family disco, buffet and students’
end of year awards.
Last years
tickets sold out very quickly which lead to some very disappointed
people so to avoid this please get your tickets early as they
will be sold on a first come bases.
Tickets are
now available at all venues.
LKK & EKK, Kata & Kumite Course
Links Karate
Kai and England Karate Kan will be holding a joint course on Fitness,
Kata and Kumite. This will be held on Saturday 8th November at
Clacton Leisure Centre, Vista Road, Clacton on Sea, 2pm-4pm.
This will
be a great chance to try something new. Contact your club instructor
for more information.
Hanko-Ryu
International Kata & Kumite Tournamant
Links Karate Kai attended
the Hanko-Ryu Championships, this local competition was held over
two days on the 18th and 19th October. The first days events were
Katas which the Links team was unable to attend due to other commitments,
but went with a full under 18yrs Junior Squad for the second days
Kumite sections.
Our first to compete
was in the 7yrs and under section, Ethan Day, who went out in
the second round to fellow team mate Zak Coates who went on to
gain a Bronze, as did Jack White-Overton, Joseph Ridgewell also
in this group excelled himself on the day going through the rounds
gaining a well deserved Silver medal in the final.
Sam Day, Lincoln Pretlove
and Laurence Gill in the 8-10yrs all did well but did not manage
to medal this time.
Chris Scrivener in
the Boys -40 kg 11-13yrs secured a Bronze. James Lee had an early
exit in the +40kg 11-13yrs but fellow team mate Jake Pickering
showed real spirit winning each fight to the final taking the
Gold.
Tom Raymer and Daniel
Szabo in the 14-15yrs Boys, both fought well but Tom was to go
out in the early rounds leaving Daniel to make his way to the
final but having to settle for the Silver this time.
Chloe Duce in the Girls
11-13yrs 3kyu+ took Bronze. Emily Appleby in the Girls 11-13yrs
-40kg in her first open competition put nerves aside gaining herself
the Bronze.
Jasmin Lancaster in
the Girls ll-13yrs -40kg fought through the rounds winning a Silver
in the final.
Kelly Render in the
14-15yrs did well but went out in the first round where Bernice
White-Overton took the Bronze.
Mitchell Williams in
the Boys ll-13yrs was on form taking the Gold.
Nathan Knights and
Spencer White-Overton in the boys 16-18yrs both going through
the rounds both taking the Bronze medals.
Our last event of the
day was the Girls team event Bernice White-Overton, Chloe Duce
and Jasmin Lancaster where they took the Gold.

English Karate Federation Northern Regionals
The latest competition
attended by the EKKA Squad was the EKF Northern Regional Karate
Championships. The competition, which is a highly ranked event
and attracts some of the best squads in England, was held on Sunday
26th October, in Ponds Forge, Sheffield. This was to be the last
event of a long season for the squad, following great success
at the English and the British. The team had to pull out all the
stops at this event.
The first events of
the day were the junior teams in the Girls 10 to 15yrs, we had
Alex Nunn, Jasmin Lancaster and Heidi Jay: Gold.
Boys

Individual:

Coaches:
Many thanks again to the team of coaches we have to support our
squad members, they give up their time to stay to the end to make
sure you have someone in your corner.
The very high standards
and fighting spirit of the EKKA team is a great tribute to them
and their instructors. Congratulations to you all from the EKKA
Karate Association and squad coaches for a very successful year.
